Emotionally charged throughout Wow, this book had my heart beating, ringing in my ears, took my breath and sometimes had me breathing hard。。。。。very well written, brilliant characters and the relationships between them。 This book had me from page one。。。。and I didn’t rest until I finished it。

Not my usual genre but was gripping。 Little intense but had me feeling inquisitive rather than frightened

read this over two days after just getting past a reading slump。 very quick paced and entertaining。 i liked the plot as a whole and the alternating povs and extra documents were pretty interesting。 i loved some of the twists but at times i just couldn’t help but think pete and maddie were a bit dumb (or maybe they were just too innocent。spoiler however, i didn’t like the whole “oh maddie is also a psychopath” last chapter because it made no sense to the story??? but the rest was pretty good。

Lara Arcas

Definitely a good thriller。 I enjoyed reading it and totally not what I expected。

A compelling and emotional readThis novel was engaging from beginning to end。 I felt completely invested in Maddie and Peter’s journey。 Learning your baby was switched at birth is incomprehensible。 Miles is painted so well as a narcissistic psychopath。 It is scary how facts can be misconstrued in the fight for justice。 I highly recommend this read。

This book was amazing。 I literally could not put it down。。。it was such a page turner from the very start。Pete was such an interesting character and I loved the fact he was a stay at home Dad and thought the forum and his outlook were really interesting。Maddie was a difficult character but she was nuanced and interesting。 Both the reasons this isn't a 5 star review is related to Maddie though。。。a part of her personality which I won't expand on else will become a spoiler。。。which I thought was whol This book was amazing。 I literally could not put it down。。。it was such a page turner from the very start。Pete was such an interesting character and I loved the fact he was a stay at home Dad and thought the forum and his outlook were really interesting。Maddie was a difficult character but she was nuanced and interesting。 Both the reasons this isn't a 5 star review is related to Maddie though。。。a part of her personality which I won't expand on else will become a spoiler。。。which I thought was wholly unnecessary and marred the ending for me and also bashing the NHS which at the moment is obviously very delicate but something I can never get on board with。We are extremely lucky to have the NHS and I was disappointed that in an otherwise amazing book。。。that this seemed to be a factor。Miles was a great character。。。。he was a very well drawn villain and I loved all scenes with him。。。I actually hated him。。。which just shows how well written he was。 I appreciated how mental health and child care was delved into and highlighted in a very sympathetic and empathetic manner。 There was no judgement there and I thought that was brilliant。 The stigma of mental health is prevalent, now more than ever and I loved this was challenged and very well。 The thought of a child being removed from someone because of previous mental health issues is unbelievable and sickening in modern society。。。I was also enthralled how every day things such as asking for help and honesty and children being children can be twisted in certain situations。。。。and how something mundane such as porn can really be used against someone。。。which is wrong and hard to imagine in todays society but was presented in such a realistic way that I had no trouble believing anything written and I could totally see everything happening playing out in real life。I was also surprised 。。。 frequently。。。I had literally no idea where each chapter was taking me and I really enjoyed that。 I had read many thrillers and loved how often this one shocked me and how invested I felt。 I was genuinely worried for Pete throughout and I loved the ending (apart from one small factor mentioned above), which is rare for me and I was delighted。This is a real page turner and highly recommended。Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Read Completed 3/12/21 | 3。5 starsAn enjoyable read but I was looking for a tad more intrigue and suspense。 It made me nervous dealing with the subjects of custody and the whole accidental (or "accidental") child swap but it wasn't really a suspenseful kind of nervous。 The ending had a little twist but it wasn't really enough to solidify this as a better read for me。 I still enjoyed the book but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it。 Read Completed 3/12/21 | 3。5 starsAn enjoyable read but I was looking for a tad more intrigue and suspense。 It made me nervous dealing with the subjects of custody and the whole accidental (or "accidental") child swap but it wasn't really a suspenseful kind of nervous。 The ending had a little twist but it wasn't really enough to solidify this as a better read for me。 I still enjoyed the book but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it。 。。。more

Good book, enjoyed reading it from each character’s perspective。 A good about of “Oh my!” moments。 Surprised if this wasn’t made into a TV series。

Colette Serpetti

A different kind of thriller; but as a mom, this might be one of the scariest books I’ve read。 Is the parent of a child the one who gives them life or the one who lives life with them each day?

Ida Meccariello-Heath

I really enjoyed reading this book。 I thought the author had done a lot of research about all the legal implications and it really did make sense too! I would definitely recommend it。

Great psychological thriller, the story keeps building throughout and makes you pray nothing like that ever happens to you。 I do think the book was way too long though。 I couldn’t wait to see how it played out so was hooked in that sense but also in the the final 1/3 was getting a bit bored and thinking I wish this would hurry up and get to the end

Something completely different"Playing Nice" is about a family story I wouldn't expect。 At the moment when it was clear to me that Theo isn't Petes own child, I thought "Oh no, he was cheated。" - like everyone probably is thinking。 But it comes in a completely different way。。。For me this book is gripping and very damatic。 Even by knowing what happened to Petes family, the end of the story was quite a surprise to me。 I also like the writing style of J。P。 Delaney - it is interesting as varied。 Alt Something completely different"Playing Nice" is about a family story I wouldn't expect。 At the moment when it was clear to me that Theo isn't Petes own child, I thought "Oh no, he was cheated。" - like everyone probably is thinking。 But it comes in a completely different way。。。For me this book is gripping and very damatic。 Even by knowing what happened to Petes family, the end of the story was quite a surprise to me。 I also like the writing style of J。P。 Delaney - it is interesting as varied。 Although there are many technical terms around family law, child protective services or inheritable disease, the author is using them in an easy way so that everyboday can understand the point。I only can say: Read this book! =) 。。。more
